The Camp Koinonia
Dear Parents,

The Therapeutic Recreation program at the University of Tennessee is
pleased to announce Camp Koinonia 2009. Camp will be held March 29th
through April 3rd, 2009. We are so excited to offer this outdoor,
educational experience for children with multiple disabilities again this
year.

The camp is a six-day residential program that provides children with
disabilities the opportunity to experience canoeing, horseback riding, arts
and crafts, music and movement, cooking, sports and games, and other
fun activities. Camp Koinonia allows children to interact with University
of Tennessee students, as well as their own peers. This is a wonderful
way to enhance positive social interaction and develop new friendships.
Camp Koinonia provides both the campers and staff “an experience that
lasts a lifetime!”

In order to participate, the children must meet certain criteria. These
criteria are:

  • Individuals must be between the ages of 7 and 22;
  • Individuals must be classified as having more than one disability;
  • Individuals must not present severe behavioral problems; and
  • Individuals must have had little or no opportunities to attend other
    camp programs

Please note: Applicants requiring significant, advanced medical care
and/or who present severe behavioral problems are subject to review by
camp administration and medical personnel prior to acceptance for camp.

There are a limited number of spaces available for camp. It is in your
child’s best interest to return the registration form, application, and
medical form as soon as possible. If you have any questions, please feel
free to call us at (865) 974-4363 or (865) 974-1288. We look forward to
having your child at Camp Koinonia 2009!  Thank you for your interest in
our program.

Sincerely,
