| My son, Jack, is 19 years old. He is severely mentally retarded, is non-verbal, and functions at a 2 year old level. Although he has all the physical attributes of a 19 year old young man, he is, and will forever be a toddler, requiring all the assistance, supervision and care of a 2 year old. The Camp Koinonia experience for Jack is a week in his life in which he can climb a wall, canoe, ride horses, play games, make crafts; enjoy a week of independence: where he discovers and explores his abilities NOT his disabilities!
